CJN to swear in New Senior Advocates of Nigeria

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed, will on September 23, 2019, swore in the newly recommended 38 Senior Advocates of Nigeria at the main courtroom of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
The swearing-in ceremony is part of the list of events outlined to mark the beginning of the 2019/2020 legal year of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Usually, during such programmes, the Chief Justice of Nigeria will deliver a state-of-the judiciary address, which will highlight the performance of the Supreme Court, and the Nigerian judiciary at large, in the outgoing 2018/2019 legal year.

It would be recalled that out of the 117 legal practitioners that applied for the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2019; only 38 legal practitioners were recommended for the rank at the end of the rigorous exercise of choosing them conducted by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee.
Sources revealed that three of the legal luminaries are from the academia while 35 are practicing advocates.
