HAPPY EASTER

Easter is a Christian festival that celebrates the defeat of death and the hope of salvation. Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion by the Romans.

Section 10 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended protects religious freedom and religious festivals are recognized as National Holidays.

Religion is the very basis of human life. It establishes forms of social order by prescribing the norms, behavior, and practices expected in society. Through religion, people find things that bring them solace and inner peace. Religion provides an explanation for reality; something to fill in all those questions that we often ask ourselves e.g why are we here? where do we go when we die? what happens if there is no God? As such people find comfort in understanding the mystery of life.

Religion helps law enforcement because followers of a particular religion adhere to the moral duty of following certain rules. This duty helps in dissuading the followers from committing offenses against the laws because most laws are based on moral duty in religion as they are created in line with what is generally accepted by people as good conduct.

Easter celebration signifies the victory of good over evil. In Nigeria, the holiday is a cultural mélange of Christianity and local beliefs. Easter is a period of celebration and feasting and the date for Easter shifts every year within the Christian calendar depending on when the vernal equinox occurs.

Religion is a very important part of Nigerian culture and it should continue to play such an important role in our lives and society.

Many believe that religion gives structure and rules to live by, an answer to what happens when we die, and for some people, a connection with God or spirituality. Easter is a joyous festival for Christians and it is an occasion to celebrate life, so everybody should have fun celebrating Easter.
